Dominic D’Agostino, Ph.D. - University of South Florida - Ancestral Health SymposiumDominic D’Agostino is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Molecular Pharmacology and Physiology at the University of South Florida and teaches neuropharmacology, hyperbaric medicine, medical biochemistry and nutrition physiology. His research is focused on developing and testing ketogenic diets, calorie restriction diets, ketone esters and ketone supplements to induce nutritional/therapeutic ketosis. D’Agostino’s laboratory uses in vivo and in vitro techniques to understand the physiological, cellular and molecular mechanism of metabolic therapies, including radio-telemetry (EEG, EMG), electrophysiology, fluorescence microscopy, laser confocal microscopy, atomic force microscopy (AFM), biochemical assays, in vivo bioluminescence imaging, behavioral testing and exercise performance.

Dominic put all his research into layman's terms so one can understand his important work. In a nutshell? Using diet to prevent Navy Seals from having seizures instead of using medications. Using the lessons from the diet to create nutrition supplements to prevent more seizures. Whole food...it is medicine.

Supporting groups included Greenlaw, Southern Alliance for Clean Energy, Georgia Watch, Sustainable Atlanta, and the Partnership for Southern Equity hosted a forum that included the Assistant Director for the San Francisco Utility Authority as the lead speaker. The panel included Ron Shipman. Georgia Power, Amelia Shinstone, SACE, Dr. Joyce Dorsey and Dr. Marilyn Brown. Afterwards the groups broke up to create solutions and identify challenges of over coming those challenges.
