In honor of Earth Day, nrg and Simon Properties hosted a metro wide EV caravan to highlight their partnership together. Simon now have multiple locations for EV charging across its properties including Town Center, Lenox Sqaure, Phipps Plaza and Mall of Georgia. Southeast Green spoke to Lauren McNaulty of Simon Properties about the program.
The City of Atlanta has opened a recycling center for hard to recycle materials. Entitled CHaRM (Center for Hard to Recycle Materials), the facility is the first collaborative effort between a nonprofit and the city. The nonprofit partner is Live Thrive who will be operating the facility. The facility will operate 3 days a week. It will be open on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. It will also have a robust education portion where each month will be dedicated to one of the 12 councilperson's districts. Education will happen in each district during the prescribed month in schools, community meetings and businesses. The goal will also be for each council person to have a recycling event at CHaRM to really focus districts members on recycling those hard to handle materials. Southeast Green attended the Detroit Auto Show to see the release of the 2016 Chevy Volt. Chevrolet also brought in 50 Chevy Volt enthusiastic owners from all over the country. We caught up with Buzz Smith from Texas. Buzz eventually gave up his job so he could go sell Volts. Dubbed the EVangelist, Buzz represents the enthusiasm that represents the Volt owners in general.
