Rukiya Campbell, APR, has been named Director of Communications for the City of Atlanta Department of Watershed Management (DWM). A native of Indianapolis, Indiana, Mrs. Campbell possesses more than 20 years of public relations experience, in the corporate, agency and nonprofit sectors.
“Mrs. Campbell holds a great deal of knowledge and expertise in communications with a widely diverse professional background,” says Commissioner Kishia L. Powell. “With her capabilities, I am confident we can refocus our communications efforts on launching quality customer initiatives and ensuring that we are keeping our ratepayers informed and actively engaged.”
Prior to joining Watershed Management, she was the marketing and communications manager for a nonprofit child placement agency in Alpharetta, Georgia, where she was responsible for developing and implementing strategies to market the agency’s programs , media relations, internal and external communications and special events planning. She also has served in management roles for various companies including Hilton Hotels Worldwide, WISH-TV 8 in Indianapolis, Butler University and the NCAA.
Mrs. Campbell is a graduate of Indiana State University and West Virginia University and holds a bachelor’s degree in communications and a master’s degree in integrated marketing communications respectively. She also holds an accreditation in public relations (APR).
In addition to announcing Mrs. Campbell as Communications Director, DWM has unveiled a new email address in an effort to simplify the process of providing timely and accurate information to our media partners.
