Georgia Ports Authority Commits to Protect Historic Oaks

This Southern Live Oak located at the Georgia Ports Authority Garden City Terminal is estimated to be more than 360 years old. GPA Executive Director Curtis Foltz committed today, National Arbor Day, to protect the historic oaks located at the Garden City Terminal.GPA protects and maintains dozens of old growth oak trees

The Georgia Ports Authority announced today a commitment to put dozens of historic trees located on GPA property under protective governance, now and into the future.

“These massive oaks located on GPA property are awe inspiring and have been here long before we were,” said GPA Executive Director Curtis Foltz. “Today, on National Arbor Day, the Georgia Ports Authority is making an official commitment to protect and preserve these natural and historic assets.”

Started 35 years ago to help provide critical operating dollars to sustain the oldest and largest nature center in Georgia, the possum is running for the 35th time to benefit for the Chattahoochee Nature Center at 9135 Willeo Road in Roswell.  Join your friends and co-workers to make a team at this amazing annual race on a smooth, certified course with scenic views of the Chattahoochee River.   You’ll be getting in condition for the 201e Peachtree Road Race as well as qualifying for the 2014PT.  This fast paced race course along the scenic Chattahoochee River in Roswell gives runners all the right reasons to run.  Register Online at <>  or in any Big Peach Running Company Store. Georgia Power to acquire 250 megawatts of wind energy from leading developer EDP Renewables

Georgia Power announced today that it has entered into an agreement with EDP Renewables North America that will add wind energy to the company's diverse energy portfolio.

Through the contracts, Georgia Power will source 250 megawatts (MW) of cost-effective wind energy from EDP's wind farms in southwest Oklahoma. The wind energy purchased through these contracts will provide enough electricity at peak to power more than 50,000 Georgia homes.
