Walmart adjudged as largest on-site green power generator

Walmart released its sixth annual Global Responsibility Report (GRR), titled “The Responsibility to Lead.”

In addition to accomplishments and progress in the areas of social, company and environmental responsibility, the report highlights Walmart’s top achievements in 2012 to reduce its impact on the environment and improve efficiency in its stores, clubs, distribution centers and throughout the supply chain.


New Dust Collector Hoppers Fit Low-Profile Applications

Camfil APC has introduced two new dust collector hoppers for use where space constraints dictate the use of a low-profile dust collection system. Designed to fit Farr Gold Series® cartridge dust collectors, the Low Pro hopper is best suited to collection of dust and fumes from cutting, blasting, welding and thermal spray operations; while the Low Boyhopper is for use with heavier dust-loading applications involving a variety of dry dusts. Depending on the model chosen, the low-profile hoppers can reduce overall collector height by as much as 36" (91.4 cm).


ADEQ Posts Air Quality Monitoring From Mayflower Site Online

The Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality is posting air quality monitoring data from the site of the March 29 ExxonMobil pipeline spill in Mayflower on the agency’s public website.

Continuous air quality monitoring is being conducted by both the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and ExxonMobil. The air monitoring data from both EPA and ExxonMobil have been reviewed by the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH). ADH has concluded that the data results are similar.


Death and Injuries at Arkansas Nuclear Plant

In Russellville, Arkansas, Entergy's Arkansas Nuclear One station suffered an accident that lead to the death of one worker and eight others injured. The incident occurred Sunday Morning. Happening at Unit 1 which is a 836-MW reactor, the refueling maintenance of the reactor was happening when the accident occurred. The plant said that no nuclear materials were released into the environment. The Second Unit located at the same site was tripped and went into a safety mode which temporarily took the second unit offline.


EPA Approves Arkansas Greenhouse Gas Program


The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is approving the State of Arkansas’ program for permitting new and modified facilities that emit significant amounts of greenhouse gas pollution (GHG) into the air. The Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) worked closely with EPA to develop a state program to replace the existing federal program and submitted it for EPA review in November.
