Mayor Kasim Reed arrived in Paris yesterday for a series of speaking engagements and to participate in the Climate Summit for Local Leaders, organized by Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo and former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg. The event is one of several happening alongside the United Nations Twenty-First Conference of the Parties, a series of negotiations among world leaders to make an agreement to address global climate change, known as COP 21.

The United Methodist General Board of Church and Society has sent an international delegation to the Climate Talks. Watch the team with delegates from Germany, the Philippines, Washington DC, Africa and Mississippi via Georgia. The delegation is led by the Director of Environmental Justice, John Hill.
On the eve of the United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP 21, taking place in Paris next week, the members of the Global Travel Association Coalition (GTAC) reiterate the industry’s commitment to contribute to fight climate change, and express their hopes for successful talks.
“We need a global agreement at COP 21 with clear actions and firm commitments, outlining effective pathways to address climate change,” said Ben Gunneberg, CEO of PEFC International ahead of the upcoming PEFC Forest Certification Week. “These commitments must recognize the multiple benefits of forests and encourage policies that promote sustainable forest management and the use of certified forest products. This will enable PEFC as the world's leading forest certification system to further enhance its contribution to tackling climate change, safeguarding forest ecosystems and sustainable livelihoods."

Repudiation Comes As President Leaves Paris, Heartland Arrives for COP21
Within days of President Barack Obama’s speech at the COP-21 climate conference, House lawmakers voted to repeal key aspects of the administration’s climate change platform, the Clean Power Plan. The regulations are intended to limit the amount of carbon emissions from new and existing power plants.
The Heartland Institute arrived in Paris for COP21, the United Nations climate conference – a meeting press and world leaders are calling the last chance to “solve” the global warming crisis. The contingent of climate realists led by Heartland will be there for a week to prove with globally accepted scientific data that there is no human-caused global warming crisis to solve.
